Youth experience sailing as a platform to develop leadership skills, gain confidence, and experience hands-on environmental science. Even our newest sailors enjoy the thrills of skippering a boat, going fishing off our docks, and making new friends, the first steps on their journey to becoming integral members of the Courageous Sailing community. Our 5-Step Summer Sailing School curriculum provides a framework for learning and growing through increasing independence, responsibility, and achievement. Our course fees are set on a "sliding scale" based upon a family's Annual Household Income or the Adjusted Gross Income. Scholarships are readily available for all who qualify. Registration will be lottery-based. There is NO advantage to submitting a registration form early. This is NOT a "first-come-first-served" system. Forms must be completed online.Week-long sessions
It is important to realize that we are not a traditional camp, so kids are free to come and go from our building as they please (with the exception of when they are in class and being supervised directly by the instructor). Through our program, kids learn many valuable skills that go beyond our sailing programs such as responsibility, community, and being self-sufficient. Our program is for ages 10 - 18. We require that juniors are able to pass a swim test, swimming 75 yards without stopping. Classes teach Juniors to sail, kayak and windsurf and progress through a range of abilities. All classes are included with membership. All classes will fall between the hours of 8:30 AM and 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
Learn to row this summer at the Row Boston Summer Clinics on the Charles River in 12-person boats made for beginners. No experience necessary! Our program is for students entering grades 7-12 in the fall. The program runs 9:00-3:00 and there is transportation from Ruggles T Station to and from the boathouse. An addition bus stop may be added if needed. The weekly fee may be waived if it will present financial difficulty to your family.Week-long sessions in three phases.
We offer a variety of programs tailored to different ages and abilities. All programs are led by experienced guides who are skilled paddlers, patient instructors, and are certified in Wilderness First Aid and CPR. We mix instruction with expeditions, games, and activities to give your child a complete introduction to the world of paddling. A variety of paddling summer programs provides paddling instruction and experience to kids ages 9–16.
